One post-doctoral researcher or advanced PhD candidate – Energy and the Post-Carbon Economy

Four-year project

The department of Environmental Studies at the Faculty of Social Studies (FSS) of Masaryk University (MU) is inviting applications for a post-doctoral researcher, advanced PhD candidate or experienced research assistant.

Selection Criteria

Doctoral studies (completed or advanced) or several years of related experience in research projects within the fields of Ecological Economics, Industrial Ecology, Environmental Studies, Degrowth, Energy Analysis, Societal Metabolism, Energy Economics or related field(s).

Moreover you will have excellent written and communication skills in English (project language) and will cover as many of the following criteria as possible: Advanced understanding of environmental, biophysical and energy related issues; strong experience in quantitative methods and modelling, in particular with IOA; Iinterdisciplinary background including the social sciences theory and methodology; prior experience with third party funded project work; ability to professionally present research outcomes at scientific conferences; analytical capacities, ideally demonstrated by scientific publications and experience in international scientific collaboration.

Also beneficial are additional qualifications such as: the ability to attract research grant funding; experience with MuSIASEM net energy analysis, material and energy flow accounting, life cycle analysis, macroeconomic modelling, social network analysis, CGE modelling, etc.; good writing and communicating skills in Czech and/or other languages in particular Spanish; track record of activist engagement in environmental issues and volunteering experiences.

Terms of employment

Initial contract for one year, to be renewed for one year and then for two years.

Salary: Depending on your qualifications and seniority between 40 000 – 70 000 CZK (approx. 1500 – 2600 €).
